Objective of course:

To provide:

• A dental radiography troubleshooting course for dental health care workers who have completed and passed a Dental Radiation Safetycertification program.
• Instruction and address areas of difficultly to included but not limited to:
  • Elongation            
  • Foreshortening
  • Cone cuts
  • Closed contacts   
  • Film placement per exposure
  • correct sequence for mounting processed xray film

Course requirements:

• Participant MUST hold a valid Dental Board ofCalifornia (DBC) Dental Radiation Safety Certification, taken from a DBC approved provider. (DBC, section of law, 1085b2)

Course outlines:

• Demonstrate proper intraoral film placement, per exposure.
• Demonstrate proper use of film holding devices, per exposure.
• Provide appropriate learning experience with equipment and radiation safety devices.
• Provide practices of techniques and skills as related to dental radiography.
• Provide instruction in correctly mounting of dental xrays, advising participant on anatomical landmarks.
• Address occupational responsibilities in regards to radiation safety, for dental radiographer and patient to assure maximum educational benefit.
